Bambi Movie Night Food

“When the sky is cloudy, you come along with a song right away” — Little April Shower (Bambi)

Each month, as I focus on a new movie, I like to create a meal inspired by that film. I’ll admit, my cooking skills are pretty novice, and I’m way more confident experimenting with mocktails and cocktails than I am with food. So while I’m curating these movie night menus, I’ll mostly be relying on recipes I find online, and I’ll always share the original source so you can check it out for yourself.

Spaghetti Aglio e Olio (with Chicken)

For Bambi, I wanted something that felt light and fresh. This simple pasta dish fit the vibe perfectly. It’s traditionally vegetarian, but I added chicken to make it more filling. It paired really well with the salad I was serving, and I loved how quick and easy it was to make.

Salad with Homemade Raspberry Vinaigrette

This salad was the anchor and inspiration for the entire meal. When I think of Bambi, I think of the forest... and then I think of berries. I kept the salad simple with lettuce, onion, and tomato, letting the homemade raspberry vinaigrette carry all the flavor. One heads-up, the recipe made a lot of dressing, and I definitely found myself trying to give some away before it went bad.

Lemon Crumb Bars

To continue the “fresh” forest-inspired vibe and complement the raspberry flavors, I went with a lemon dessert. I wasn’t mad about it at all, lemon is one of my favorite dessert flavors, and this treat was the perfect way to wrap up the meal.
