Jamaica Day 5

"Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away..."--Come Fly with Me (Frank Sinatra)

Today was our final day at Sandals Ochi, and I made sure to soak in every moment. I went back to Southern Table for breakfast—this time without the rush of a packed morning schedule. We sat outside and enjoyed the peaceful resort views one last time before heading off to catch our shuttle.

While I flew into Montego Bay at the beginning of this trip, I actually flew out of a different airport on the way home—thanks to some American Airlines miles I wanted to use. This time, I departed from Ian Fleming International Airport, which is conveniently closer to the resort. Yes, that Ian Fleming, the author of the James Bond novels. Fittingly, American’s flights out of this airport are nonstop to Miami and numbered 4-007. How fun is that?

The airport itself is very small. I’ve been to a few small regional airports, but this was by far the smallest one I’ve ever experienced.

I had a layover in Miami and my mission was clear: find a fountain Diet Coke—something I’d been craving all week and couldn’t have in Jamaica since they don’t carry it there. Mission accomplished at Spring Chicken in the Miami airport, which has officially become my go-to layover spot. I actually discovered it during a chaotic travel delay last year (throwback drama: read here).

A quick flight later, I was back in Orlando—home to my tiny zoo and already dreaming about the next adventure.

If you’re thinking about planning your own trip to Sandals Ochi—or anywhere else in the world—I’d love to help you make it happen! Start here: Registration
