Mexico Day 4
“I wish somebody would have told me, babe / That someday these would be the good old days.” – Good Old Days (Macklemore ft. Kesha)
Today was our last full day in Mexico, and I was already starting to feel that end-of-trip sadness creeping in. But I was determined to make the most of every moment and turn this into a day to remember.
Drew, Morgan, and I started our morning with breakfast at the buffet, Vela. I was on the hunt for something, anything, with chocolate chips. While scanning the buffet options, I unexpectedly spotted Mickey Mouse pancakes. I couldn’t believe it. It felt like it was meant to be.
After breakfast, we joined the rest of the group for a full resort tour. The spa was the highlight for me, absolutely beautiful. It was so tempting that a few of my coworkers ended up booking treatments right after the tour. The rest of us headed straight to the pool for an afternoon of fun and relaxation.
The pool day was a journey and a day that has stuck with me since this trip. It began with some top-tier people-watching, rolled into nonstop laughter, kept going with a steady stream of cocktails and conversation, and wrapped up with pizza and poker. Also worth noting, a ridiculous number of bathroom breaks. That’s what happens when you don’t even have to leave the pool to get drinks.
Oh, and I promised my nail tech I’d get a nailfie somewhere cute in Mexico so she could post it. Let’s just say it didn’t go quite as planned. You’ll have to ask me for those photos if you want to see them.
That evening, we met up for dinner at Maxal. You might remember that name from earlier in the trip, but this location was nothing like the other one. When I look back on the whole experience, this is the meal I wish I could be transported back to. It was the perfect way to end our final night as a group.
The night wrapped up with a Silent Disco Party. I’m not a big fan of those since I don’t like wearing things on my ears, but it was still a blast to watch, especially at a family resort where kids were dancing to music they probably don’t normally hear. It made for a fun and quirky ending to a truly unforgettable trip.
