Curaco Day 3

"I'm on vacation every single day ‘cause I love my occupation” — Dirty Heads

Today was our final full day on the island, and we had the entire day free to enjoy the resort.

I met my co-agent Kendra for breakfast at Butch's Island Chop House, where I was able to order a customized omelette. If you've read enough of these trip reports, you already know how much I love a good omelette. This one was especially impressive because it was huge. I know it doesn't look that large in the photo, but it was definitely made with more than just a couple of eggs.

After breakfast, we met up with the rest of the group on the beach. We managed to snag one of the resort's iconic umbrella spots and spent some time relaxing while watching guests enjoy the various water sports.

The resort also had floating water beds in the swimming area, which I had been avoiding. As a general rule, if I'm getting in the water, I prefer a pool. If you're going to convince me to get into the ocean, the water needs to be crystal clear because I want to know exactly what creatures are swimming around my feet.

Eventually, I was peer-pressured into joining everyone in the water, and I have to admit, I had a great time. Most importantly, I was not attacked by any sea creatures. I should note, however, that after I was already in the water, someone casually mentioned that an eel had swum by earlier. Thankfully, I never saw it. Had I seen it, I probably would have set a new personal record for fastest swim back to shore.

When we needed a break from the sun, we grabbed cocktails and lunch at The Strand, where I had eaten with friends the day before. Its beachfront location makes it incredibly convenient when you're spending the day by the water.

Later, some of the agents who had gone snorkeling returned to the resort, and we all decided to spend the afternoon hanging out by the pool.

For dinner, I joined a group heading to Zuka. This Latin fusion restaurant ended up being my favorite meal of the entire trip. I loved the tropical atmosphere, vibrant colors, and neon accents throughout the restaurant. I ordered a quinoa salad and the surf and turf, minus the surf because I can't stand seafood. I also discovered a passion fruit cocktail that became my favorite drink of the trip.

That evening was Silent Disco Night at the resort. If you've read my blog before, you've probably figured out that I'm not really a silent disco person. I don't love wearing headphones, but I still hung out with everyone. Friends would occasionally offer to share an ear whenever a song came on that they knew I'd want to hear.

After the silent disco, the resort switched over to karaoke. We stayed for a bit before calling it a night and heading to bed to prepare for our flight home the next day.
