Jamaica Day 2
“We'll run away together, we'll spend some time forever, we'll never feel bad anymore...” — Island in the Sun (Weezer)
We had a full day of training and resort tours ahead, so I made sure to start the morning with a filling breakfast. I opted for room service, especially since I noticed they had a create-your-own omelette option, which is always a favorite of mine!
After breakfast, I headed to our training session to learn more about the incredible variety of Sandals and Beaches resorts. These trainings are always so educational and inspiring, but they definitely make my travel wish list a lot longer. I guess I'll need to sell some more vacations to afford them all!
Following the training, we went on a formal resort tour of Sandals Ochi. It gave us a great lay of the land and a chance to explore the different room types. My personal favorite was the Honeymoon Romeo & Juliet One Bedroom Villa Suite with Private Pool Sanctuary. It's such a unique room, totally unlike anything else I’ve seen on property.
For lunch, we had a break and I chose Vista Sky, which offers a rotating buffet with different international themes. That day it was English cuisine, but I also saw Italian, Mexican, and Asian days on the schedule.
In the afternoon, we toured Sandals Royal Plantation. The more Sandals properties I visit, the more I’m intrigued by how unique each one is. I’d describe Royal Plantation as a private beach club meets Caribbean mansion. It’s the epitome of quiet luxury. Every suite includes butler service, the views are postcard-perfect, and the entire vibe is classic romance with a splash of retro charm.
After the tour, we returned to our resort and I took a little downtime in my room before dinner. That evening’s theme was the Caribbean Carnival Beach Party. I joined some fellow agents for dinner at Reef Terrace, a newer dining concept that’s currently being tested. I really enjoyed the experience. It has an open kitchen and a smaller setting where the culinary staff interacted with us throughout the meal.
Post-dinner, we tracked down the party, which had been moved from the beach to the amphitheater due to on-and-off rain since our arrival. Despite the weather, the energy was high and the entertainment was supporting that energy.
We wrapped up the night with a visit to the Speakeasy bar, “The Rabbit Hole.” It’s a two-level venue with nightly live entertainment and a whimsical theme inspired by Alice in Wonderland, such a fun way to end the day.
