Dumbo Movie Night Beverages
“They're here and there
Pink elephants everywhere” — Pink Elephants on Parade (Dumbo)
It’s time to reveal what cocktails and mocktail I created to pair with Dumbo. For those that are new here, I create food and beverages for Disney animated movies and I’m going through them in chronological order.
Step Right Up
It was much easier for me to come up with food ideas than drink ideas for this movie. There’s not a particular drink that I associate with a circus, so for this cocktail I looked to typical circus food for inspiration. In fact, this idea popped into my head while I was walking around Storybook Circus in Walt Disney World. I talked into “Big Top Souvenirs” and looked at the treat display and saw all the adorable apples and that’s how this cocktail idea was born!
Recipe
4 oz sparkling cider
¼ tsp brown sugar
1 ½ oz of salted caramel vodka
3 oz ice
Add all ingredients to blender
Pour into glass
When I See an Elephant Fly
I knew I wanted cotton candy to be in this shot. I’m not one for a novelty shot anymore, but I felt if I was going to create one, it had to be well-themed. If you don’t use the cotton candy on this shot, it will be a VERY different taste than intended.
Recipe
½ oz tequila
¼ oz Contreau
¼ vanilla vodka
Cotton Candy
Put ice in cocktail shaker
Pour liquid ingredients in
Shake
Pour into shot glass
Put cotton candy on top when ready to serve or give to drinker to do on their own. It will dissolve fast!
Pink Elephants on Parade (Mocktail)
I knew I wanted lemonade in the mocktail. That’s the only beverage I could think of when I was brainstorming for this movie. I was remembering the punch bowls of my childhood and that’s how this one was created. This one is very sweet.
Recipe
4 oz lemonade
2 oz Sprite
2 oz pineapple
Cotton Candy
Fill glass with ice
Pour lemonade, then sprite, then pineapple juice
Put Cotton Candy on top when about to serve or give it to the drinker to do as it will dissolve fast.
