Mexico Day 3

“I can show you the world, shining, shimmering, splendid” — A Whole New World (Aladdin)

Today was a transition day. We checked out of one resort and prepared to check in to another later in the afternoon. But first, we had two resort tours on the agenda.

We started at Hilton Playa Del Carmen, which has since rebranded to Hyatt Vivid Playa Del Carmen since our May visit. It was hot during our tour, but that didn’t take away from the stunning beachfront views, elegant swim-out suites, and lively pool scene. If a quieter vibe is more your speed, there are also alternate pools that offer a more relaxed atmosphere. We toured a few wedding venues, and I was especially taken with the rooftop ceremony space. Imagine the ocean as your backdrop. But what really stuck with me? Those inviting swim-out rooms and the dreamy in-room jacuzzis. I would’ve happily jumped in, heat and all.

Next, we visited Hilton Cancun, a family-friendly resort with a warm, modern vibe. I honestly loved the lobby. I didn’t mind walking through it a few times during our tour. The highlights for me were La Churreía, the sweets shop filled with ice cream, churros, and candy, and the kids’ areas, which were fun and creative.

We were treated to a private lunch at Auma, the resort’s open-fire mixed grill restaurant. I’m not even a guacamole fan, but their version won me over. It might have actually made me like guacamole.

Later that afternoon, we checked into our new home for the rest of the trip: Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe. Another family-friendly property, this one had a slightly different feel, and we learned that’s because it was recently converted from Royal Uno All-Inclusive Resort & Spa.

After a little downtime in our rooms, we headed to dinner at La Luce. You may remember that name from night one, but don’t let the shared name fool you. This menu was entirely different. My side of the table decided to share everything, which worked out perfectly because I couldn’t decide what I was craving and was feeling a little overtired.

Thankfully, a bit of caffeine helped perk me up just in time for the evening festivities: a Glow Party to end the night on a high note.
