Bambi Inspired Travel
“I’m seeking that glow - Only found when a thrill is complete” – Looking for Romance I Bring You a Song (Bambi)
I thought it would be fun to do a series of blogs that explore where a fan of a certain movie may want to travel. This could get challenging for me as the movies go on, so be sure to come back each time I switch movies to see what I come up with!
1. Great Smoky Mountains National Park – Tennessee/North Carolina, USA
Why it fits: With its peaks, wildflower meadows, and deer roaming freely, the Smokies feel like Bambi’s forest come to life. The natural setting captures the heart of the film’s early moments.
What to do: Hike scenic trails like Cades Cove or Clingmans Dome, keep an eye out for wildlife (especially fawns!), and take in the mountain views at sunrise or sunset for a truly magical experience.

2. Vienna Woods (Wienerwald) – Austria
Why it fits: Bambi’s story began in Austria, and the Vienna Woods are thought to be part of the setting that inspired Felix Salten’s original novel. The serene landscape and fairy tale forests make it a beautiful tribute to Bambi’s roots.
What to do: Explore hiking trails, visit historic monasteries and ruins, and enjoy peaceful forest strolls just outside the bustling city of Vienna.
3. Redwood National and State Parks – California, USA
Why it fits: These towering, ancient trees create an awe-inspiring atmosphere that perfectly matches the timeless, quiet beauty of Bambi’s woodland world. It’s the kind of place where you can imagine Thumper bouncing through the underbrush.
What to do: Walk through cathedral-like groves, drive the scenic Avenue of the Giants, and breathe in the stillness of one of the most magical forests in the world.
